It's an interesting poem, but I'm really not so sure I like it. I can't quite see why it takes courage to be gentle or to be loved. If anything, it seems that loving is what requires courage. In loving, you're letting your guard down, even though you might be betrayed. . Being loved...seems more passive to me.
